A reason not to whine

Cheers! This year for the holidays I painted my first wine glasses. I was inspired by dragonflies. When my grandfather passed away almost 10 years ago now one of my family members saw a dragonfly (I’m not exactly sure who) and felt sure that it was Grandpa watching over us. Since then, we all seem to have acquired dragonflies. The dragonfly flies only for a short portion of its life and usually not more than a few months. Many view the dragonfly as a symbol of living your life without regrets because it has to live so briefly. Grandpa certainly lived a full life, but it was not short and touched the lives of many. I think he would have been happy to have been remembered this way.

As a medium, I chose a fast drying glass paint, and did not bake the glasses. I’d like to try another paint that offers more choices in color and found another brand, but it takes 21 days to dry. Baking it would be quicker, but honestly exploding glass in my oven isn’t appealing and that is absolutely something that would happen to me! I’m hoping to get a table at a craft fair this fall and sell some which is yet another bucket list item, and you may see these again for my cousin’s wedding next year!
